Hood College celebrated its inaugural International Education Week (IEW) during the week of November 18 - 22, 2019.

Hood College is proud to observe and celebrate its seventh International Education Week in-person during the week of November 17 - 21, 2025. This is a campus-wide celebration of international education and we encourage all Hood students, faculty and staff to participate in our week of exciting events!

International Education Week (IEW), November 17-21, 2025 is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.
This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of a national effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.View short video clip of IEW 2022.
International Parade of Flags | 4:00 p.m. Rosemont Gate Entrance (please arrive by 3:30 p.m.)
Join us for our colorful opening parade of flags which will proceed through campus from Rosemont Gate to Coblentz Hall. Students, staff, faculty, and community members are invited to participate, so sign up here to carry a flag! For more info, contact al-dajane@hood.edu.

The opening IEW address will include an inclusive multifaith blessing by Rev. Beth O'Malley, opening remarks by President, Dr. Ricker. For more info, contact al-dajane@hood.edu.
Optional International-Themed Meal | 5:00 p.m. Coblentz Hall
Join us for an international-themed meal at Coblentz Hall to enjoy some global flavors from around the world! Volunteers will receive free meal tickets for this event. For more info, contact al-dajane@hood.edu.
International Student Lunch | 1 - 2 p.m. Coblentz seminar room (RSVP required)
This interactive student panel will include both international undergrad and grad students who will share their experiences with adapting to life and studies in the U.S., and tips for successfully navigating different cultures.

Global Film Screening: Blizzard of Souls | 6 - 8:45 p.m. Hodson Auditorium
The Microbiology, Public Health, and History Film Festival presents the 2019 Latvian feature film, Blizzard of Souls. As part of the ongoing series, “From Great War to Great Flu”, we explore the lesser-known Eastern Front of World War One 110 years after Latvia entered the war as part of the Russian Imperial Army. Following the film, we will explore how the Great War led to the Russian Revolution and Latvian independence before helping to sweep the 1918 influenza pandemic eastwards. The panel discussion aims to help the audience understand present-day relations between Russia and the Baltic states of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania. Free refreshments will be provided.
Creative Reflections: Fostering Connection and Wellbeing for International Students | 1 - 2 p.m. Dreiling Seminar Room
Join us for a creative and engaging workshop! Through expressive arts activities, we’ll explore our personal and shared strengths in navigating the challenges of studying and living abroad. No artistic experience is required; just come ready to have fun, be creative, and reflect together. This experiential session offers an opportunity to deepen self-awareness, connect with other international students, and honor the inner and collective strengths that sustain us across cultures. Participants will also learn about mental health resources and support available within the Hood community. Open to all undergraduate and graduate international students.

Hood College celebrated its inaugural International Education Week (IEW) during the week of November 18 - 22, 2019.
Friday, March 29, 2019 marked a day of fun and celebration when Hood College students from different cultures came together to explore their unique heritages at the International Festival organized by Hood College’s Saudi Student Association.
Hood College celebrated Diwali, the festival of light, putting international students in great spirits.
