Transfer Nursing
Admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program for transfer students is extremely competitive. There is no additional application nursing applicants need to complete, but applicants will be reviewed through a two-step process in which they are accepted to Hood College prior to being evaluated for the nursing program.
The BSN program consists of four levels, each of which takes one year to complete. Qualified transfer students are accepted into either level 1 or level 2 of the program, based on the criteria outlined below.

Level 1-Begins in the fall semester and requires four full years of study at Hood College. To be considered for admission to level 1 of the Nursing program, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- A composite GPA of at least 2.75 in all coursework
- A minimum grade of a C in all Nursing-required courses
- For any Nursing-required courses, students may not repeat any course more than once, and may not repeat more than two courses overall
Deadline: Applicants interested in admission to the nursing program for the fall must apply and be accepted to Hood College before April 1 to be considered for a space in the nursing program.
Level 2-Begins in the fall semester and requires three full years of study at Hood College. To be considered for admission to level 2 of the Nursing program, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed the following courses with a grade of C or better:
- Anatomy and Physiology I
- Anatomy and Physiology II
- Chemistry with a lab
- Psychology 101
- A composite GPA of at least 2.75 in all coursework
- A minimum grade of a C in all Nursing-required courses
- For any Nursing-required courses, students may not repeat any course more than once, and may not repeat more than two courses overall
- Completed the HESI A2 exam with a composite score of 70 or higher for the following sections:
- Reading
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Math
