Chair of the Board Scholarships

Chair of the Board Scholarships

This highly prestigious scholarship provides four new full-tuition awards to academically superior students in each entering class.

Recipients will have the distinctive opportunity to benefit from the challenging and rewarding academic programs Hood offers in a supportive and welcoming community with all tuition costs fully covered by the scholarship. All first-year students who have been accepted to Hood College by January 15 will be considered for this prestigious award. Successful candidates will have a record of outstanding academic achievement as well as accomplishments outside the classroom. It is expected that recipients will have demonstrated the talent, ability, academic achievement and motivation to compete for national and international recognition by the end of their undergraduate careers.

All candidates will be invited to attend Scholars' Day in February, which will include a scholarship interview, meetings with faculty and current honors students, and lunch with the president and provost. Four Chair of the Board Scholars will be named within the two weeks following Scholars' Day, and all Scholars' Day attendees will receive $5,000 in additional scholarship funds as well as a stipend account of $2,000 that they may use following the end of their second year at Hood for research, study abroad or other related educational expenses.

This award is renewable annually, up to four years, provided the recipient maintains a GPA of no less than 3.5 and makes satisfactory progress toward a bachelor’s degree. For more information, contact the Office of Admission at 301-696-3400 or admission@hood.edu.
