The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers exciting opportunities for students to either conduct research or teach English all around the world. Recent U.S. student grantees have taught English to middle school children in Kolkata, India; assisted in teaching high school English in Vienna, Austria; studied the impact of human activity on biodiversity in the Amazon in Ecuador; and researched how survivors have coped with the Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.
Fulbright is a prestigious grant and is the largest U.S. international exchange program offering opportunities for students to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide.
An information session explaining Fulbright grants and the application process is held in mid-March every year at Hood College.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Proficiency in the language of the host country is required for most research and Clinton fellowships, and some of the English teaching assistant and study fellowships. Students must hold a 3.5 GPA and be a senior undergraduate student or a graduate student.
