Employee Health and Welfare Plans

Hood College provides a flexible benefits program to eligible employees. The plan allows employees to choose benefits according to their needs. Employees can change their benefit elections during the annual open enrollment period.

All regular full-time employees and all part-time employees with Full-Time Equivalency (FTE) of .50 or greater

  • If dependent(s) is disabled, he or she may be eligible for continued coverage.
  • Mid-Year Changes to Pre-taxed Benefits
    • You are allowed to make changes to benefits mid-year if you experience a qualifying life event. Life Events are changes that happen to you or your family affecting your benefits such as
      • Adding a dependent through birth
      • Adoption or marriage
      • A spouse or other eligible dependent adds or loses health insurance coverage as the result of a change in employment or eligibility for coverage through his/her employer
      • Or a court order
  • Benefits are effective the first of the month following date of hire or transfer to a benefit-eligible class.
