Medical Insurance

Hood College offers POS, EPO, and High Deductible Health plan with HSA medical insurance plans to choose from. All plans are administered by United Healthcare using the Choice Plus network. Employees must be .5 full time equivalency or greater to be eligible for these plans.

Benefits, out-of-network costs and premiums vary by plan option and tier. Employees may elect coverage for themselves and eligible dependents. Deductible runs on a policy-year basis.

Please be aware that Capital Women’s Care and Johns Hopkins are no longer included in UMR’s United Healthcare Choice Plus network. Going forward, any scheduled medical appointments with them will be considered out-of-network, and you may have to pay out of pocket for all or some charges.  You can find participating physicians or facilities via UMR’s website.

Many preventive or routine screenings may be covered at 100% if you visit an in-network provider.  That means you could have no out-of-pocket costs.  This is true of most medical plans due to changes from the Affordable Care Act.
