Creating a Rubric
- Use the required experience, skills and competencies listed in the job description as the criterion for the rubric.
- List measurable achievements (4-point rating scale) for each criteria:
- Less than requirement (1)
- Meets requirement (2)
- Exceeds requirement (3)
- None (0)
- The hiring manager or selection committee should define the scores that will sufficiently advance or eliminate a candidate from consideration.
- Each hiring manager or member of selection committee should receive a copy of the rubric ahead of meeting a candidate and should complete and submit their rubric to the hiring manager after the meeting.
