Delegate Kenneth P. Kerr '81

After earning his degree in music from Hood College, Kenneth Kerr '81 began his career as a fourth-grade teacher, followed by years as a product manager, technical writer and trainer in the Computer Technology field. Ken pursued a Masters in professional writing and an Education Doctorate in higher education leadership before returning to the education field, this time teaching English at the college level.

At Frederick Community College, he served for many years as a faculty member and department chair, ultimately earning the distinction of professor emeritus. His passion for education led him into public service, where he served on the Frederick County Board of Education and was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2018. Today, as a representative of District 3, Delegate Kerr is known for his thoughtful leadership and ability to balance complex legislative responsibilities with a strong commitment to his constituents.His career serves as a powerful example of integrity, leadership and service in action.
