Hood Nursing in the Community

Hood Health Hubs (2026)

Hood Health Hubs are part of an Academic Health Department Partnership with the Frederick County Health Department and are open weekly in the C. Burr Artz and Walkersville Public Libraries in Frederick County. Nursing students and instructors connect with community members at the libraries to listen, support, educate and refer them to resources in the community to support health and prevent disease.

Hood College is a participating organization in the National Interprofessional Education and Practice Consortium to Advance Million Hearts®, led by The Ohio State University and contributes by providing biometric screenings to prevent hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Hood Million Hearts® trained 42 nursing students as Million Hearts® Fellows and provided biometric screening and coaching to 124 participants on campus and in the greater community.
